Welcome to the home of the Sommerfeld family tree. The main focus is the genealogy of Wilhelm Sommerfeld and Elizabeth Schenkel. Their story in America begins in the early 1900s. Wilhelm and Elizabeth both entered this country through Hoboken, New Jersey. Little is known about Wilhelm's and Elizabeth's parents. Wilhelm's parents, Ferdinand Sommerfeld and Pauline Gramsch, lived in and around Zduńska Wola, Poland. Elizabeth's parents, Martin Schenkel and Bernadina Klopecke, came to America in 1903. Before coming to America they lived near the Ruhrort area of Duisburg, Germany. Further research will hopefully yield valuable information regarding the family's past. |
